ACME Woodturning

Architectual Turnings

Solid sphere and base.  Walnut and Ash. 22 inches in diameter. Oil finish.  The original piece of wood was badly checked and opened further as the piece dried.  The shape has elongated about half inch along the direction of the grain.

Staunton Chess Pawn.  Honey Locust and Walnut. Oil finish.  Turned from wood that was badly cracked. It is four pieces. The joints are all hand-chased threads - five threads per inch.  14 by 33 inches.

The raw setup for a set of four columns.  I will turn them on my big lathe if I ever get another commission like it.
